Observations of solar coronal loops can be used as a diagnostic tool to reveal key plasma parameters such as the magnetic field strength, density contrast, and inhomogeneity length scale. We discuss recently developed seismological and forward modelling techniques designed to exploit the high spatial and temporal resolution provided by modern and future instruments. We present recent results from the application of these methods to data from the Atmospheric Imaging Assembly onboard the Solar Dynamics Observatory.
