I will give an overview of the results from the ALMA survey of Herbig Ae disc population where numerous detections of isotopologues of CO allowed estimates of (CO) gas masses, and comparison to their dust masses. Herbig Ae stars are elderly, 5-10Myr stars, so this survey is highly complementary to similar surveys of young star forming regions (e.g. Lupus) providing a snapshot of late stages of disc evolution and gas dispersal. Also, it provides an insight into the evolution of discs around intermediate mass stars, questioning how much we should be extrapolating from the existing studies of low-mass stars and their discs, and whether planet formation proceeds in the same way around these stars.
