There is an underlying mechanism which produces the distributions of YSOs observed in local molecular clouds. Comparing YSO positions with SCUBA-2 850 m emission finds that Class I/0 YSOs tend to be more tightly clustered around regions of emission than Class II and later stage YSOs. While the mechanism is uncertain, by using statistical methods of point pattern analysis to look for scales of aggregation and regularity in the positions of YSOs I will present how this affects the distribution of different YSO classes for molecular clouds within the Gould Belt and how Monte Carlo simulations of different distribution models can aid in finding more information about the underlying point process in molecular clouds.
