The Future of Astronomical Polarimetry
Polarimetric methods are ubiquitous throughout astronomy. Polarisation is vital for studying magnetic fields within galaxies, stars, jets and transient objects. It is also crucial for exploring star forming regions, dust, exoplanets and solar system objects such as asteroids and comets. Often techniques and interpretation are kept within research areas and not shared across communities. We wish to bring together different areas of polarisation research, across a wide range of wavelengths, to encourage cross-subject collaboration and to discuss the requirements for future (spectro-)polarimeters.
