Ubiquitous propagating MHD kink waves in the solar chromosphere and corona are now observationally confirmed. Numerical simulations are performed investigating the effects of longitudinal magnetic and density stratification on the cut-off frequency of propagating kink-waves, and the results are compared to the Spruit approximation. A vertical magnetic flux tube is specified with constant, linear and quadratic Alfven speed profiles along the tube length. We present novel findings that show that, in contrast to Spruit (1981), the kink-mode has no cut-off frequency for a constant Alfven speed profile.
