The Astropy Project is a community effort to develop a single-core
package for Astronomy in Python and foster interoperability between
Python astronomy packages. In this talk I will give a brief
introduction to the project as well as a progress update for the
Astropy core package over the last year (including the imminent v2.0
release), and I will outline plans for the coming year. I will also
describe the Astropy affiliated package ecosystem, which is formed by
Python packages that are not part of the core package but use Astropy
and are associated with the community.
