Broad-line Type Ic supernovae (Ic-bl SNe) are sometimes coupled with GRBs (e.g SN 1998bw), and their explosion mechanism is not yet fully understood. The geometry of the SN ejecta at early times can be inferred from spectropolarimetry. This allows comparison to the predictions of theoretical models. For SN 2014ad, we obtained the best spectropolarimetric data set ever acquired for a broad-lined Type Ic SN. Although no GRB was observed in the vicinity of SN 2014ad, we found it had ejecta velocities characteristic of Ic-bl associated with GRBs, and its geometry was consistent with fully jet-driven explosion models. The geometry of the deeper ejecta, however, is harder to reconcile with current models of Ic-bl SN explosions.
