The Next Generation Transit Survey (NGTS) is a wide-field survey designed to detect Neptune-sized exoplanets, in particular around K and M stars. Due to its wide fields and high cadence (13 seconds for all stars) it is also well positioned for detecting stellar flares on a range of spectral types. With our cadence and field size we are able to temporally resolve complex flares beyond that of Kepler, without the observing limitations associated with targeted flare campaigns. I will present the results from our search for stellar flares in the first NGTS datasets, focusing on cases of interest from G to M stars, highlighting how NGTS will be of interest to the stellar community in the years to come.
