TOPCAT is an interactive desktop application for analysis and manipulation of tabular data in astronomy, and provides a powerful and relatively easy to use tool for working with Gaia data. This talk will provide a very brief introduction to TOPCAT, outline a number of ways it can load relevant parts of the Gaia catalogue, and demonstrate some examples of it in action to extract science results from the Gaia DR1 dataset.
