The ESA Gaia Archive (http://archives.esac.esa.int/gaia/) at the European Space Astronomy Centre (ESAC), Madrid, is the official validated repository of all Gaia data. Version 1.0 of the Archive was released on 14th September 2016 with the first public catalogues of the Gaia Data Release 1, which include the positions and G magnitudes for more than 1 billion sources, over 2 million parallaxes and proper motions for stars in the Tycho - Gaia Astrometric Solution, photometric data of selected variable stars, cross-matches between Gaia sources and other astronomical catalogues, and more. The Archive provides a powerful querying interface comprising of a simple query form, advanced ADQL (Astronomical Data Query Language) querying, the uploading of tables inside private user space, visualisation, table sharing, amongst other functionalities. We present here an overview on how to use the Archive, show it's main functionalities and in particular, show how to access the Gaia data using ADQL queries for real scientific use cases.
