A talk about the project New Henge Heritage produced by visual artists Arianne Churchman and Chloe Langlois for a residency at Metal in Peterborough. New Henge Heritage sought to investigate the Peterborough Stone - a small Neolithic standing stone displaced from its original location and now located outside the Museum. The project aimed to realign the stone with its current site, skyscape and community. Working with the cultural astronomer Dr Daniel Brown and academics within the fields of Archaeology and History, a speculative history of the stone was fabricated through research, field trips and community based workshops. The project culminated in a performative stone circle and an artists film re-ritualising the site and its place within the community. The talk will consist of a screening of the artists film and discussion of how astronomy was utilised within the development of the project.
